inspired by beautiful moments experienced on the vast beaches of Canada's far western coast near Tofino, British Columbia. Where the ocean’s siren call beckons us to admire her many moods - calm, peaceful, buoyant, wistful, pensive, foreboding, mournful, grieving, mysterious, hopeful. Like so many before me I am often drawn to this soulful place where land and sea converge. Particularly during storm season, when nature’s mercurial temperament seems to empathetically mirror my own recent emotional experience of grief and the resilience of life in its wake.

A signature blend of paint and medium is combined to produce wonderful matte colours and fresco-like texture. Layers are added, subtracted and blended until the panel is thick with paint, edges rough and the abstract landscape in my memory reveals itself. If you are looking for precision this is not your kind of art. These works are not about perfection… they are about beauty. The beautifully imperfect.
