I'M AN ARTIST WHO NEEDS A CAMERA... WHAT ONE SHOULD I GET?

Good cameras don’t take good photos, good photographers do.
— ELLE BRUCE

As a photographer turned artist, I have often been asked by other artists “what camera should I get.” My first response is always “that depends.” Which is never the answer that is wanted. The truth is, of course, gear is only part of the equation. But if you have the interest, and already have (or are ready to invest in gaining) the skills required to take a good photo, then the right gear can definitely make a difference.

I have put together a guide that outlines the seven questions I recommend you ask yourself to help guide the process of selecting the right gear for you. Once you have answers to these questions and have put together a “short list” of cameras that you think might meet your needs, I am happy to discuss each one in an effort to help you come to a decision you feel good about. Note: This guide was designed for artists, but the questions are applicable for anyone.
