NEAR THE MAPLES
In my experience the halfway point on a road trip is special. It's a place of transition between where you were and where you will be. As if to confirm this notion, on my route heading north, the halfway point is a pretty little spot called "The Maples." There's a certain importance implied about a place when it's name is prefaced with a "the" and yet this spot is no more than a road lined and shaded by rows of maple trees.
